Reefing TIPS from Vic [WWC]! ICP result for AccuraSea1 salt (Two Little Fishies)!!
Vic from World Wide Corals stopped by for a visit last month (video on WWC: ua-cam.com/video/sC81xc3SGUg/v-deo.htmlsi=twIRb622zo_QpdVY), while here, I asked him to please share some advice on what he would do if this was his tank. Thankfully, he did not say, "start over!"
In the second part of the video, I shared why I chose to try the new AccuraSea1 salt from Two Little Fishies, as well as the ICP test result from the salt.

I bought a $100+ Damselfish... 🤑 (Starcki Damsel)

This is a rare case of jumping onto something that I was in the know. Usually hobbyists balk at paying more than $10 for a damselfish, let alone $40. But when a Starcki Damselfish suddenly showed up on my local reef club's forum, I immediately contacted the seller for pick-up. Here is the story... You are so good at catching fish! LOL Can you come and catch my blenny? lol I lost my favorite gorgeous fish which believe it or not was a figi blue devil damsel! I though he was agressive but now I relize he wasnt at all for a damsel! I bought him as a baby and was last to go in, but he was alone for about a year and was aggresive towards other fish. Anyway i caught him and put in my sum and the day I go to get him to transfer to frag tank that just finished cycling he was dead :( I think it was from the water change day b4. It hit me hard! I loved that fish and I feel like i murdered him! Now I have a baby talsot which is in the top 3 least aggresive damsels and this baby is meaner then he was! If he wouldnt have died I probably would have put him back with the new fish and he would have been fine after a timeout! Actually thinking hard of getting another but might not be so lucky next time because he is considered an aggressive damsel! He would be one of the last to go in but want to get two more that I will get at same time because of shipping fees!

    I started in this hobby in 2002 and everything I read about housing tangs was that you needed a six foot tank so they can have plenty of swimming space and that will cut down on their stress. Has this train of thought been changed for 2024?

      my understanding is tangs like hippo tang should ultimately be in at least a 6' tank, while tangs like yellow tang in 4'. My understanding could be a bit more old school though and things may have changed. Although I'm also in the camp of it being ok to house a younger/smaller tang in a smaller tank and slowly move them into larger tank too, versus the tank they go into being their final home.

    You really need to send out a aquabiomics test. You recently put some macro algae and peppermint shrimps in from algae barn. I know some of their stock comes from florida and florida reefs are plagued with stony coral tissue loss disease. Ive had the same disease( confirmed by aquabiomics) and i also noticed stuff looked better after water change but quickly reverted back to corals dying. If and when you do the test. Dose amoxicillin and cipro for 7 days

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer 13 днів тому

    • @revZ098
      @revZ098 13 днів тому

      @@InappropriateReefer its worth just dosing amoxicillin and cipro at 500 mg per 20 gallon . Do this at night out. Wont harm your fish. Might tick off your corals a little but i did it in my fluval evo 13.5 gallon at 500 mg of each per day. And nothing died. Seen a big improvement after that.

    • @revZ098
      @revZ098 13 днів тому

      @@InappropriateReefer also. Try to avoid anything coming from florida or Caribbean at the moment. Going forward if you decide to do the treatment and things improve: dont remove bioballs or rock or sand from your aquarium. That will give any bad bacteria the chance to take hold since your good bacteria would decrease.

      I have an Ender 3 and I was more a casual user. It was ~75% up time for me printing things as I had some issues getting things to stick to the plate, but while it was working it is pretty cool printing stuff. These days I hear Bambu is the value go-to and it's pretty much plug and play. I definitely recommend one if you see a lot of things that you would like to print, but if it's more from a cost-cutting perspective, I don't think you'd save much money printing things considering the cost of the unit + filament.

      @@InappropriateReefer I buy from a reputable reefer from the reef2reef forum. Based on his description, it contains a blend of Tetraselmis, Nannochloropsis, Isochrysis, Thalassiosira weissflogii, Nannochloris, Chaetoceros calcitrans, Chlorella, Dunaliella (tertiolecta), and Pavlova. They’re very dark green and fresh, I dose 30 mL daily. I’ve tried not dosing for 6 months as an experiment and my corals were dull. Once I start dosing again, the color and puffiness is back. Could be a placebo effect but I now strongly believe phyto really do help in my experience.
